The 1737 Calcutta Cyclone
In 1737 a disaster hit in Calcutta, India; a typhoon followed by massive flooding. Since there was not much of a technology at that time there had been an ambiguity regarding what might have caused the disaster.

A lot of people also considered it to be an earthquake but now it has been confirmed that that it was typhoon that took the lives of 300,000 people. Almost the entire city of Calcutta drowned in this tragic event. This natural disaster caused one of the greatest casualties of all time.
